I already picked up a Meshify 2, but I'm thinking about a Torrent instead since I want to air cool some pretty heavy metal. Anyone want to convince me I'm wrong? Also like the built-in Bluetooth on the AMD board, but that's super minor. I know some think this isn't important, but I'm super serious about future proofing here. I like the additional PCIe 5.0 slots in the AMD board. Windows 11 is spyware and I'm flatly not going to install it.

  • This machine will be what finally makes me jump to Linux.
  • If I have thermal problems post-build, I'll think about a liquid cooling solution.

I'm pretty opposed to liquid cooling, even AIOs, due to the possibility of machine-ruining catastrophe.

It will also drive my media environment (dual TVs comprising a 65" 4k 60 Hz as primary and a 37" 1080p 60 Hz as secondary, with surround sound 7.1), serve as my general home hub, and I expect to use it for a little streaming and recording, and strictly hobbyist video editing and sound engineering.

  • This machine will be primarily, but not exclusively, for gaming.
  • I've put together a comparison chart, and I'd love to hear more from the community about the relative pros and cons.

My last PC lasted me over a decade with only one major upgrade (a 980 Ti), and I'm targeting that kind of longevity for this machine too. I got a lot of good feedback, made some updates, watched the early benchmarks for the 7950X3D, and suddenly wasn't so sure I wanted to go AMD anymore.

I'm super excited, and looking for input on my beautiful monster. Thanks to everyone who provided input on my proposed 7950X3D build! Short version is that I got the biggest bonus of my life at work, and after I take care of my mom, I have enough left over to do my first all-new case-up build in 12 years. The graphic card fans, as well as the power supply fans are at 0 rpm, and the CPU cooler is at 326 rpm (no audible at all).

The computer is dead silent when doing simple things. I am planning to get 3x P12 MAX from Arctic, the reviews look promising.

The current setup has a single case fan, and I disconnected it, it's only showing some RGB, as it is loud and doesn't support PMW. You can just imagine that nobody will bother fitting this in the UMX4, but it fits! I needed to remove a hard drive backet, that I had no intention to use, and that's it, it fits with plenty of room inside the case for the power supply cables, they are a bit squeezed, but not pushing too hard on the end of the graphic card. The XFX card is pretty long, at 34.4 mm, adding the anti-sag bracket, will add 2 cm. The graphic card is a giant XFX 7900 XTX, I honestly didn't think it will fit in a UMX4, which is supposed to accommodate a card with maximum length of 310 mm. The Power supply is an NZXT C1000, new to the market I believe, but it seems its entirely based on SeaSonic Focus range, as they share many traits, such as the 0 rpm button at exactly the same location. The AIO is Corsair H115I RGB Pro XT, a pretty large 280 mm cooler for the relatively power demanding AMD 5900X. I really didn't know I can fit the parts described above in such a compact case (UMX4 is a 37.97 L ATX case), but I was inspired from many posts by the wonderful community, such as this IBM build.Īs you can see in the attached images, my AIO is outside the case, it's just sitting there on top of the AIO holder, fixed with double sided tape, since this case supports only 240 mm AIO, I thought putting it on top wouldn't be too bad, and it turned out just great in my opinion.
